The Ratschings Mountain Trails will take place on June 18th.

The Ratschings Mountain Trails have made a name for themselves

The third edition of the Ratschings Mountain Trails is slowly but surely approaching! In exactly one month, on Sunday, June 18th, the starting signal for one of the most popular South Tyrolean trail highlights will be given at the valley station of the Ratschings/Jaufen ski and hiking area. The preparations are going according to plan, registrations continue to increase and the anticipation for the spectacular mountain experience in the north of the country is growing and growing.

With the third edition, the Ratschings Mountain Trails are still a fairly young event in the trail scene. However, you can already tell from the number of participants that there is great enthusiasm for this running event and that the fairytale mountain panorama in the heart of the Alps is very popular. Almost 200 athletes registered for one of the two distances or the two-person relay a month before the big showdown. The high number of participants from abroad is also noteworthy, which underlines that the Ratschings Mountain Trails have also made a name for themselves outside the country's borders since the first edition in 2021.

The rewards were recently approved for the two trails - the classic Ratschings Mountain Trail with a length of 17,7 kilometers and 950 meters in altitude and the even more demanding Ratschings Sky Trail, in which 27 kilometers have to be completed with 1690 meters in altitude. The winners of each distance will receive vouchers worth 500 euros, the runners-up will receive 300 euros and the third-place winners will receive 200 euros. There are great prizes and vouchers for the two-person relay teams. Every participant who shows up at the start on Sunday, June 18th will receive a comprehensive starting package.

The Trail World Championships don't leave the Ratschings Mountain Trails indifferent either

One week before the Ratschings Mountain Trails, this year's Trail World Championships will take place in Innsbruck and Stubai, where the best of the best in this extreme sport will compete. This of course keeps some stars of the scene from the Ratschings Mountain Trails. “It is impossible for them to take part in our event just a week after the title fights, the burden would be far too high. On the one hand, that's a huge shame, but for trail sport the World Championship is the highlight of the season and therefore puts it in the spotlight," says Hanspeter Schölzhorn, the head of the Ratschings Mountain Trails OC. “We acknowledge this with both a laughing and a crying eye. Trail sport is on the rise and the World Cup is extremely important for the development of this sport.”

Nevertheless, there will be no shortage of outstanding athletes who will slip into the role of favorites at the third edition of the Ratschings Mountain Trails. Big names have already registered, especially from the South Tyrolean scene: Andreas Innerebner (Sarntal), the two local heroes Lukas Mangger and Armin Larch, and Claudia Sieder from Pusteria. For you and all other participants, the event begins on Saturday evening. Then there will be a lecture with the South Tyrolean trail legend Daniel Jung from Naturns and the South Tyrolean mental coach Hannes Mur from Brixen.
