A mountain running anniversary at the Stelvio Pass
The "Stilfserjoch Stelvio Trail Run" has become a fixture on the South Tyrolean trail running calendar in recent years. On Saturday, July 18th, the event will take place for the tenth time. The anniversary promises a strong field of participants and a course that will demand everything from even experienced mountain runners.

The race traditionally starts in Prad, then follows the cycle path along the Suldenbach stream to Stilfs. From there, it continues along the ridge past the Prader Alm, the Trafoi chairlift mountain station, and on to the Furkelhütte mountain hut. The final stretch is the well-known Goldseeweg trail to the grand finale: the Dreisprachenspitze (Three Languages Peak) above the Stelvio Pass – the highest finish line in South Tyrol.
Three races are available again: The so-called Competitive category is aimed at ambitious trail runners, "Just for Fun" appeals to sporty hobby runners, while the Jochmarsch allows participants to experience the mountain scenery without time pressure. All races cover 21 kilometers and 2.100 meters of elevation gain.
You can take it easy on the Jochmarsch.
Among those participating are German trail specialist Lena Ritzel from the Lowa Trail Racers Team, winner of the 2025 Innsbruck Alpine Trailrun Festival, and Sophia Huber from Munich, who finished third in the 2024 adidas TERREX Infinite Trails race. Also confirmed are big names from the South Tyrolean mountain running scene, including 60-year-old Edeltraud Thaler from Lana and Armin Gögele, a 45-year-old veteran from SC Meran.
New for the anniversary is a children's sprint race in the village center of Prad, organized jointly with the VSS. The starting gun for the Stelvio Trail Run will be fired at 8 a.m. at the aquaprad, and the VSS children's race starts at 11 a.m.
