Haselrieder and Vender celebrate at the “Soltn”

The Italian mountain runner Alberto Vender (Team New Balance SA Valchiese) already pulled away from all his competitors in the first few kilometers of the Soltn Mountain Half Marathon, which took place on a sunny morning with perfect running temperatures. Shortly after the start, which took place at 10 a.m. sharp from the Jenesien equestrian center, he was followed by Khalid Jbari (Athletic Club 96 Alperia) and Martin Griesser (running club ASV Freienfeld).

But Vender from Trentino managed to build up a lead of three minutes in the first seven kilometers and then increased this a little with great skill. The runner, born in 1996, crossed the finish line first after the 21,1 kilometers with 520 meters of elevation gain and won the 23rd Soltn Mountain Half Marathon.

"This is my first time here. It is actually the first race I have run in this part of South Tyrol. I really enjoyed it, the race is very nice to run. I have just come back from an injury to my right foot and this is one of the first races I have done. I am very happy," said Vender at the finish, who has resolved to return to the Salten one more time. The athlete from the Valle del Chiese crossed the finish line with a time of 1:15.28 hours, followed by Jbari from Bolzano almost four minutes behind (1:19.17 hours). Third place went to Griesser from Pustertal (1:20.02 hours), who came second last year. Fourth place went to Christian Neumair (SSV Bruneck Amateursportverein) ahead of Armin Varesco, who came fifth.

Haselrieders defends her title in the women’s category In the women's race, Greta Haselrieder (Südtiroler LV Sparkasse) started strongly from the beginning, but Andrea Schweigkofler (Sportclub Meran) was also able to keep up and crossed the intermediate time after the seventh kilometer just 30 seconds behind. But Haselrieder from Bruneck was able to withstand all of the attacks from the Meran woman. She crossed the finish line first in 1:28.26 hours and repeated her success from last year, even improving her time by almost five minutes. "I'm satisfied. The course is fantastic, the race was beautiful, the conditions were fabulous. I had a bit of a slump towards the middle of the race, but I recovered at the refreshment station and was able to win despite the strong competition," said Haselrieder at the finish.

Andrea Schweigkofler reached the finish line just under two minutes later, running the 21,1 kilometers in 1:30.19 hours. The athlete from Merano finished the race more than five minutes ahead of third-placed Lena Zingerle (SG Eisacktal Raiffeisen). At the foot of the podium stood Susanne Hafner (TG Viktoria Augsburg), followed by Natalie Mitterrutzner in fifth place.

Ulrich Putzer (Telmekomteam Südtirol, 39.11 minutes) took third place in the 10-kilometer race (140 meters in altitude) from Salten to the Jenesien riding center.

Lisa Kerschbaumer (Sportclub Meran) confirmed herself as the fastest participant in the women's category and repeated her success from the previous year (39.49 minutes). Behind her, Maja Luder (LC Uster/42.47 minutes) took second place ahead of local athlete Irene Senfter (ASV Jenesien Soltnflitzer), who took third place in 44.19 minutes.

Satisfied organizers It wasn't just the athletes of the Soltn Mountain Half Marathon and Soltn Run who were enthusiastic. The participants of the 10-kilometer Just for Fun Run also enjoyed a great day of running. The event was also a complete success for the organizers, the Soltnflitzer of the ASV Jenesien Raiffeisen: "We are very satisfied. Many enthusiasts took part, everything went well and the weather was good too. I would like to thank our many volunteers, partners and sponsors who actively support us. Without them we would not be able to organize such an event," said the satisfied organizers.

After the Soltn Mountain Half Marathon, the Top7 running series continues on Saturday, October 19th with the AgeFactor Run in Branzoll, which is also the ninth and final stage. It will be a great day of running, because at the end of the race the closing party of the Top7 series 2024 will also take place with the general awards ceremony.
