Selina Christandl triumphed in the women’s competition.

Jbari and Christandl win the Soltn Panorama Run

Khalid Jbari and Selina Christandl won the inaugural Soltn Panorama Run on Sunday. The 15-kilometer run, along with the Just for Fun Run, attracted around 240 participants at the event on the high plateau. Brothers Maximilian and Emanuele Franceschini finished second and third behind Jbari, while Andreea Lucaci and Annemarie Schöpf rounded out the women's podium in the sixth and penultimate top-7 stage.

Khalid Jbari (Athletic Club 96 Alperia) was the first to cross the finish line of the Soltn Panorama Run at the Jenesien equestrian center. The athlete from Leifers started at 10:30 a.m. on a beautiful autumn Sunday on the Salten plateau and completed the 15 kilometers with 230 meters of elevation gain in the race, organized by the "Soltnflitzers" of ASV Jenesien Raiffeisen, in 54:05.7 minutes. Jbari led from start to finish and was able to keep his pursuers at bay. "I'm very happy with my run; I'm in top shape. I really like the new format of the race because there are so many downhill sections," explained the winner at the finish.

Second place went to Maximilian Franceschini (SA Valchiese), the 2023 Italian U23 marathon champion, who crossed the finish line in 54:55.5 minutes. The 24-year-old from Trento was seven-tenths of a second ahead of his older brother Emanuele (US Quercia DAO CONAD), who finished third and had already participated in two editions of the Soltn Mountain Half Marathon. Andrea Dagostin finished at the foot of the podium with a time of 56:12.6 minutes, relegating Riccardo Volpe (57:35.5 minutes) to fifth place.

Christandl triumphs in the women’s competition

Selina Christandl (ASV Rennerclub Vinschgau) prevailed against all the runners who participated in the Soltn Panorama Run. Born in 1990, the Vinschgau native from Taufers im Münstertal crossed the finish line in 1:02.52,7 hours. For the first four kilometers, Christandl was close behind Andreea Lucaci, but then overtook her and remained in the lead until the finish. "I'm very happy; it went really well, especially since I've been competing and training less recently due to an injury. I really enjoyed the run, and I'll be back next year," the winner declared at the finish.

Just over half a minute later, Andreea Lucaci from Bolzano was greeted by the crowd at the finish line. The 31-year-old finished the race in 1:03.30,2 hours, taking second place. Another athlete from the Vinschgau region took third place: Annemarie Schöpf (ASV Rennerclub Vinschgau) crossed the finish line in 1:06.37,7 hours, ahead of Francesca Franceschini (US Quercia DAO CONAD/1:06.55,6), the sister of the two Trentino runners who finished on the podium in the men's race. Fifth place went to Lisa Thaler (ASC Sarntal/1:08.40,4).

Satisfied organizers

"The decision to shorten the race distance proved to be the right one: It was well received by a large number of runners who registered for the race and finished satisfied. Many also participated in the Just for Fun (9,6 kilometers/110 meters of elevation gain), and after the rain of the past few days, the weather even held up. The race was exciting and everything went smoothly, so we were able to experience a wonderful day of running," commented Jürgen Wieser, head of the Soltnflitzer organizing committee, after the race.

In less than a month, the grand finale of the Top7 running series will take place in Branzoll: On Saturday, October 18, the AgeFactor Run, the final race of the season, will take place. Following the race, the awards ceremony for the entire running series will also take place.
