The South Tyrol Three Peaks Alpine Run is fast approaching – with the same enthusiasm with which its participants will tackle the climbs of the Sexten Dolomites on Saturday, September 12th. The highlight is the finish line at the foot of the world-famous Three Peaks, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 29th edition of this traditional trail running event in South Tyrol is ready to welcome both amateur runners and elite athletes. The race starts at Haus Sexten. International participants from Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Spain, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Bulgaria have already registered.
As registrations approach half of the available 1.000 starting places, anticipation is growing for an unforgettable running experience covering 17,9 kilometers and 1.354 meters of elevation gain, prepared by the organizing team of ALV Sextner Dolomiten. After the start, the route leads first to the small hamlet of Moos, at the entrance to the picturesque Fischlein Valley. The route then traverses the entire valley, passing green meadows and alpine pastures – from the Talschlusshütte mountain hut to the Fondovalle Hut.

That's where the real challenge begins: the climbs become steeper and the scenery even more impressive. The route initially follows a well-maintained path past the Rifugio Comici, then climbs to over 2.000 meters, passing the Büllelejoch Hut. From there, the final section leads to the finish at 2.405 meters at the Dreizinnenhütte (Rifugio Locatelli) – directly below the imposing rock faces of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Three Peaks).Lena Zingerle will be there. © Newspower.it
Although the 29th South Tyrol Three Peaks Alpine Run is still about two months away, the women's field already boasts numerous top-class names. The return of Caterina Stenta is particularly welcome. The versatile athlete from Trieste began her sporting career in stand-up paddleboarding, where she became Italian champion four times and also won two medals at world championships. For several years now, she has also been passionate about mountain running, in which the athlete, born in 1987, regularly achieves top rankings and successfully represents the Italian national team.
Following her victory in the inaugural Three Peaks Winter Night Run, South Tyrolean Lena Zingerle (born 2001) will also be at the starting line. She will be joined by Alessia Scaini, a native of Piedmont who now lives in Trentino. Born in 1999, Scaini has been a member of the Italian national team on several occasions and won the gold medal at the 2018 Junior European Championships. The following year, she achieved a top-ten finish at the European Championships in the senior category.
