Puster 3/4 half marathon for the first time on Saturday

The 3/4 half marathon occupies a special position within the Top7 running series. The name is already strange. It comes from the length of the route, even though the 17.6 km is more than three quarters of a half marathon. In addition, each “finisher” receives 2,5 kg of Pusterer potatoes, which is why the run is popularly called the “Erdäpfellauf”. The race is also curious because two of the four chief organizers have already won the race. Willi Innerhofer won the premiere in 1999, Hermann Achmüller is even a record winner with five successes.

This year the run starts for the fifth time from the Bruneck town hall and leads via Dietenheim and Aufhofen along the Ahr cycle path through Gais, Uttenheim to Kematen and on to the finish at the festival site in Sand in Taufers. The height difference is only 35 meters. The start time is new. The race will take place for the first time on Saturday (17 p.m.). “We want to be more accommodating to the participants,” explains Achmüller. The initial response was very positive. "We already have 200 participants almost a month before the event. That's significantly more than in the same period last year." The participant record from 2007 is 551. Registrations are possible online until August 25th at 18 p.m. Late registrations will be accepted for an additional charge until immediately before the start.

Rudi Brunner and Edeltraud Thaler extended their lead in the top 7 overall ranking at the Reschenseelauf. You will face great competition in the 3/4 half marathon. “It is becoming apparent that almost the entire South Tyrolean running elite is at the start,” says Achmüller happily. But his quest to defend the title makes this much more difficult.
