Ratschings is looking forward to the big trail party

Thanks to the promising weather forecasts for the weekend, the number of participants is likely to increase. On Sunday, June 8th, at 18 a.m. sharp, OC boss Hanspeter Schölzhorn will fire the starting signal for the Ratschings Sky Trail, in which the participants have to cover 27 kilometers and climb 1610 meters in altitude. Half an hour later, the athletes who have registered for the Ratschings Mountain Trail set off. Here the route is 17,7 kilometers long with 950 meters of altitude that you have to wind down. After weeks of preparation, which have largely been completed, the anticipation in Ratschings for the trail spectacle, which will be held for the first time in 2021, is of course huge. “We are ready and can hardly wait for it to finally get started on Sunday. The route is marked and at the weekend we even saw some athletes who were on sections and training there. Enrollments at this point are around ten percent higher than last year. “But we are convinced that a few more will join us because the weather on Sunday is supposed to be very nice,” Hanspeter Schölzhorn is convinced. The who's who of the South Tyrolean mountain running scene is there Although the Trail and Mountain Running World Championships took place in Innsbruck just last week, some of the best names in the South Tyrolean scene have registered in Ratschings. Local hero Lukas Mangger (Ridnaun) wants to repeat his victory from last year at the Ratschings Sky Trail. He faces strong competition from the Sarntal: Andreas Innerebner – winner of the shorter distance last year – would like to run for the highest podium at the Ratschings Sky Trail this year. Much longer distances are the terrain of Innerebner's compatriot Armin Aichner, who narrowly missed the podium in fifth place at the South Tyrol Ultrarace last year. For him, the 27 km and 1610 meters of altitude will feel like – to put it bluntly – a “sprint”. The 2022 winner is also there for women, namely Claudia Sieder from Mühlen in Taufers. The 35-year-old celebrated a fantastic start-to-finish victory last year and 12 months ago redeemed herself for “completely botched Italian championships,” as the Puster native said at the time. Last year's runner-up and “Grand Dame” of the South Tyrolean mountain running scene, Edeltraud Thaler from Lana, will also immerse herself in the wonderful mountain world of Ratschings. The Larchs want to rock the Ratschings Mountain Trail Armin and Alexandra Larch could ensure a brother-sister victory at a running event that is by no means an everyday occurrence at the Ratschings Mountain Trail. Armin Larch won the premiere in 2021 and took second place behind Lukas Mangger on the longer distance of the Ratschings Sky Trail last year. The Val Gardena talent Samuel Demetz (born 2003) could be at the forefront here. Alexandra Larch, however, prevailed last year and is therefore the defending champion at the Ratschings Mountain Trail. She is being challenged, among others, by last year's third-place finisher, the German Manuela Beer, who lives in South Tyrol. The Ratschings Mountain Trail can also be tackled as a relay team of two. To date, almost 25 teams have registered for this. The various mini trail runs take place on Sunday mornings around the finish area in the immediate vicinity of the Rinneralm mountain restaurant. The Ratschings Mountain Trails, however, will be launched on Saturday, June 17th in the meeting room at the valley station with a lecture on the topic of “Stability towards the goal”. The organizers were able to recruit mental trainer Hannes Mur and the successful South Tyrolean trail runner and former top mountain biker Daniel Jung as speakers.
