The two course records set by Menno Vloon (5,91 meters) and Juliana de Menis Campos (4,76), the other outstanding results of the participants, and the top-class field of competitors made the 21st International Pole Vault Meeting Schlanders, which took place on July 18, a resounding success. Not only was the audience enthusiastic, but the various partners and sponsors also looked back with satisfaction on the major sporting event in the Vinschgau Valley.
Another chapter is now being added to this year's success story. In the "Competition Performance Ranking" of the World Athletics Association, the Schlanders International Pole Vault Meeting ranks 9713th in the "Special Competitions" category with 20 points. This places the flagship South Tyrolean event at number 11 in Europe and number 1 in Italy, outperforming numerous other prestigious events.
Schlanders is in good company
The current leader is the Oklahoma Throws Series World Invitational, which was held in the USA in April and where Mykolas Alekna became the first discus thrower to surpass the 75-meter mark. With a throw of 75,56 meters, the Lithuanian set a sensational new world record. Second place goes to the All Star Perche by SCC. This pole vault meet took place in February in Clermont-Ferrand, France, and Sweden's Armand Duplantis set a new world record of 6,27 meters (which he has since improved by another centimeter). Another pole vault event rounds out the podium in the event rankings: the Mondo Classic in Uppsala, Sweden (March)."As a relatively small venue, we are among the world's elite. This makes us quite proud and underlines the outstanding work done by our team. First and foremost, of course, by our athlete managers Erwin Schuster and Johannes Kaserer, who attract the top jumpers to us in Schlanders. The rest of our team, on the other hand, ensures ideal conditions on and off the facility," says OC President Heiner Pohl.
