Simona La Mantia disappoints at the World Cup in Daegu
At the World Championships in Daegu, South Korea, Simona La Mantia, European indoor champion and vice-European outdoor champion, was surprisingly eliminated from the triple jump qualification. The Sicilian with South Tyrolean roots - Simona is the daughter of the former track and field athlete Monika Mutschlechner from Bruneck - did not go beyond a modest 14.06 m in the first attempt. Then she landed two invalid jumps, came 15th and had to say goodbye to the World Championships.
