South Tyrolean twins shine at the U16 regional meeting

The national selection won two medals at this year's edition of the comparison competition between the best U16 athletes in northern and central Italy. Both went to the Schöpf twins: the Lanan 100 m hurdles specialist Frederic even won gold in 13.35 seconds, improving his record by another 50 hundredths of a second. His sister Stephanie, however, took a very good second place in the shot put with 11.70 m. Greta Amhof narrowly missed out on a podium finish. The athlete from SSV Bruneck came fourth in the long jump with 5.43 m, while teammate Hannah Thaler came in fifth with 5 m. Discus thrower Nora Dametto from the South Tyrol Team Club threw 5.38 m, which was enough for sixth place. The Val Gardena high jumper Annalisa Goffi (29.42th with 7 m) also achieved a top ten result. The boys' relay team also caused a positive surprise in Emilia Romagna: Akpukpula Godgift, Jacopo Senatore, Leonardo Mulciri and Frederic Schöpf took seventh place in the 4x100 m competition in 45.88 seconds. In the overall ranking, the South Tyrol selection took 12th place, as it did 13 months ago. As in the previous year, the young athletes from Lombardy secured victory, ahead of Emilia Romagna and Lazio.
