U18 European Championships: Springeth 17th in long jump

The U18 European Athletics Championships are currently taking place in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia.

The only South Tyrolean participant was Maximilian Springeth, who took 17th place in the long jump. The 17-year-old from Neumarkt, who works for Athletic Club 96 Bozen, achieved a personal best of 7.31 m. In the European Championship stadium in the Slovakian city of 75.000 inhabitants, Springeth recorded invalid attempts in each of the first two rounds.

In the third and final attempt, the man from Lower Austria managed 6.82 m, which was enough for 30th place among the 17 participants. 12 m would have been necessary to make it into the final of the best 6.97. For Springeth, however, the championships in Banska Bystrica were still an unforgettable experience.
