Sebastian Vettel's new project

The curbs in the curve in question were painted black and yellow, reminiscent of the colors of bees. The biodiversity project, launched on Thursday, is called 'Buzzin' Corner - Race for Biodiversity'. Biodiversity is the variety of all living organisms, habitats and ecosystems. There is a small pond not far from turn two on the Suzuka International Racing Course.

The bee is the “perfect ambassador” for this project to raise awareness of biodiversity, said Vettel at the presentation in the presence of Formula 1 managing director Stefano Domenicali, record world champion Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes substitute Mick Schumacher and many other actors. The insect hotels, which look like large birdhouses, were assigned to the various Formula 1 teams. One of them was basically Vettel's insect headquarters.

A topic that concerns us all “The topic should be close to all of our hearts, the topic of sustainability and biodiversity affects us all,” emphasized Vettel, who resigned at the end of last season. “It would be nice if we could continue this project or if other routes could adapt it. It's about creating living space. We must celebrate diversity, not only among people, but also in nature, and we must protect it.” Birds and beetles, among other things, should find refuge in the wooden houses.

“It’s great that he has found his calling. “In the history of the sport, I don’t know of any other driver who has shown such passion for the big world outside of this small world here,” said Mercedes driver Hamilton, praising Vettel’s commitment. “I hope it inspires other riders to take action, spread love, show compassion and raise awareness.”

Vettel also used a hammer and saw himself for the insect hotels, whose roofs are painted black and yellow. “We had very long days and nights, but it was a lot of fun,” said the German. This year he has “spent days and nights in the workshop several times” building birdhouses and nesting aids at home.
