Hamilton's tears of joy: "Ferrari is the greatest team in the world"

Record world champion Lewis Hamilton celebrated his first victory for Ferrari in Barcelona – and broke down in tears in a moving team radio message after the race.

Lewis Hamilton celebrated his first Grand Prix victory for Ferrari – and in doing so, provided one of the most emotional moments of the Formula 1 season. After his triumph at the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona The 41-year-old addressed moving words to his team.


“First of all, I want to say a huge thank you to my team, Ferrari, and everyone at the factory,” Hamilton said over the team radio. “Thanks also to Fred Vasseur, who brought me to Ferrari. I started last year with a dream, then it was an incredibly difficult season. But we never lost hope.”

The Briton particularly emphasized the team's support: "Everyone tried to build me up. We improved the car, and on top of that, I have the best fans in the world. Together we achieved what we dreamed of. Thank you, Ferrari – you reminded me who I am."

Ferrari ban is broken

This victory ends a long drought for Ferrari. The Scuderia hadn't won a race since the 2024 Mexican Grand Prix. For Hamilton, it's also his first win in the red car and the 106th Grand Prix victory of his extraordinary career.

When asked about the significance of this triumph, Hamilton replied: “Every victory is special in its own way. But this one is unique. I hope it’s the first of many. Today the car was simply fantastic.”

In the interview, Hamilton also expressed his deep appreciation for his new team. "Ferrari is the biggest team in the world and deserves this success. I saw how difficult the past few years have been and asked myself what it would take to get back to the top. I had to adapt and rethink a lot of things. That it has now worked out, I owe to Fred and the engineers on the team."

Despite the euphoria, the seven-time world champion urges patience. Nothing is decided yet in the fight for the title: "It's too early to talk about the World Championship. The road ahead is long. We have to stay grounded, continue working hard, and pursue our goals step by step. In Italy, there's a tendency to get carried away with enthusiasm – but right now, concentration and consistency are what count most."
