In Florida: Formula 1 is back

After a five-week break, the Formula 1 drivers are back fighting for points. Practice took place on Friday, and the first decisive race is on Saturday – a spectacular event is guaranteed.

In Miami, the Italian World Championship leader Kimi Antonelli in his Mercedes and his rivals will first face the sprint on Saturday (6:00 PM CEST).

The winner of the 100-kilometer sprint receives eight points, the eighth-place finisher one point. Last year, eventual world champion Lando Norris won the sprint in Florida in his McLaren.

Following that (10:00 PM CEST) is the qualifying session. Last year in Miami, Max Verstappen of Red Bull secured pole position, but Oscar Piastri in his McLaren went on to win the Grand Prix.

Leclerc sets fastest time in the only practice session

Charles Leclerc set the fastest time in Friday's only free practice session. The Ferrari driver from Monaco clocked a time of 1:29,310, beating Red Bull's Max Verstappen into second place (+0,297 seconds) in the session, which was extended to 90 minutes due to rule changes. Last year's winner, Oscar Piastri, finished third in his McLaren (+0,448), while Antonelli took fifth place in his Mercedes. It was the only practice session before the sprint qualifying.
