Surgery in Milan: tumor discovered in Flavio Briatore

The legendary former Formula 1 manager Flavio Briatore (73) had to undergo heart surgery. A tumor was removed.

During a routine examination, a “benign tumor” was discovered in his heart, the former Benetton and Renault team boss said in an Instagram video. The tumor was removed using a “minimally invasive operation” using an endoscope.

“The procedure went perfectly,” said the long-time confidante of record world champion Michael Schumacher. He then spent ten days in the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan and is now doing well again. In 2006, Briatore survived kidney cancer.
