Because of a change: Leclerc extends his contract with Ferrari

Charles Leclerc's contract would have expired at the end of the upcoming season. There have been repeated rumors in the past about Monegasque's move. But on Thursday evening the news came: Leclerc is officially staying with the Reds.

“The dream continues,” announced Charles Leclerc in a social media video, making public what had already leaked in December. The Monegasque will continue to drive for Scuderia. The new working paper runs until 2029.

In the last few months there have been repeated rumors about a team change in order to increase Leclerc's chances of winning the world title he longs for. Ferrari recently didn't get past third place in the constructors' championship. Leclerc finished last season in 3th place. His teammate Carlos Sainz in 5th place.

Apparently Leclerc believes he can fight for the title with Ferrari in the coming years. “Ferrari means everything to me,” Leclerc continued in the video. The now 26-year-old comes from Ferrari's youth academy. Leclerc has been in the Ferrari cockpit since 2019 and has competed in 102 races. Only Sebastian Vettel (118), Felipe Massa (139), Kimi Räikkönen (151) and Michael Schumacher (180) have more appearances for Ferrari.
