On Ducati debut: Marquez wins in Thailand

The MotoGP sprint race at the season opener of the premier motorcycle class in Buri Ram ended with a start-to-finish victory for Marc Marquez.

The Spaniard celebrated a dream debut on Ducati. The six-time MotoGP world champion won on Saturday ahead of his younger brother Alex, with Marquez's new teammate Francesco Bagnaia coming third. "It's a perfect Saturday," said Marquez, who took the lead in the World Championship for the first time since 2019 thanks to the twelve points he scored.

The 32-year-old will also start the first World Championship race on Sunday from pole position. "Tomorrow we have to at least be on the podium," explained Marquez. Defending champion Jorge Martin will miss the season opener in Thailand due to injury. 3-year-old Upper Austrian Jakob Rosenthaler will start in Moto18.
