Di Giannantonio triumphs after two aborted matches

Fabio Di Giannantonio emerged victorious from the turbulent Catalan Grand Prix. The race in Barcelona had to be stopped twice due to several serious accidents.

Initially, a technical defect on Pedro Acosta's KTM caused chaos. Alex Marquez crashed into the back of the Spaniard on the straight and fell heavily. His Ducati disintegrated into numerous pieces, and several riders were hit or also crashed. Marquez was taken to the hospital but was conscious.

The first restart also ended quickly: Johann Zarco collided with Luca Marini and Francesco Bagnaia in Turn 1. The race had to be interrupted again.

At the second restart, Acosta initially took the lead, before Di Giannantonio grew stronger in the final stages. Three laps from the end, the Italian took over the lead and celebrated his second MotoGP victory after Qatar in 2023. Behind him, Joan Mir and Fermin Aldeguer completed the podium. For Acosta, however, the race ended bitterly: After a strong performance, he crashed in the final corner and went home empty-handed.
