Historic Aprilia triple victory at Le Mans

Jorge Martin, Marco Bezzecchi and Ai Ogura celebrated a historic MotoGP triple victory for Aprilia on Sunday in Le Mans.

Former world champion Martin won his first Grand Prix since 2024 after a successful overtaking maneuver against championship leader Bezzecchi three laps from the end. The Spaniard had also triumphed in the sprint on Saturday. KTM rider Pedro Acosta finished fifth; after five races, the Spaniard is fourth in the championship standings.

While Aprilia swept all three podium positions for the first time in World Championship history, Ducati suffered a debacle in France. Alex Marquez, who had recently won ahead of Bezzecchi in Jerez, crashed out early in the race. Shortly before the halfway point, Francesco Bagnaia, who had been running in second place, also went off the track.

Marc Marquez was not at the start. The world champion suffered a broken metatarsal bone in a crash during the sprint. He will miss at least next weekend's home race in Catalonia. Before that, three-time season winner Bezzecchi leads the championship by just one point over Martin. Acosta is 45 points behind the leader.
