Marc Marquez is MotoGP World Champion again after 2.184 days

Marquez was only beaten by his Ducati teammate Francesco Bagnaia, who finished first despite technical problems. Joan Mir (Honda) took third place.
Marquez is now a nine-time world champion. The 32-year-old Spaniard clinched the MotoGP World Championship title earlier than ever before, but he had to wait no fewer than 2.184 days since his last title. A broken humerus in 2020, along with complications and four surgeries, as well as other injuries, set him back significantly. Marquez has endured many tough years. But now he has achieved a major comeback after an outstanding season. He won the first six titles on Honda.
The eleven-time season winner has thus seized his first "match point." His only remaining rival for the title, brother and fellow brand rider Alex Marquez, finished sixth on Sunday, 201 points behind his older brother. Marc Marquez currently holds 541 points after eleven wins and 14 podium finishes, which is already a points record.
Marquez: “I am now at peace with myself”
"It's impossible to speak. It's been so difficult. I made a huge mistake by making my comeback too soon," said Marquez, touched, reflecting on his long dry spell. "I want to enjoy the moment; the journey was incredibly difficult. Now I'm at peace with myself. I fought, fought, fought, and I won," said the Spaniard after watching a brief summary of his career on a video wall. "More than a number – Marc Marquez" was the slogan everywhere, including on T-shirts.Edit Profile
