The Spanish motorcycle world champion was waved across the finish line by football record holder Lothar Matthäus and won ahead of his two Aprilia rivals, Ai Ogura (Japan) and Raúl Fernández (Spain). With 261.831 fans, the Grand Prix is one of the largest single sporting events in Germany.
Former champion Jorge Martín (Aprilia) continues to lead the overall World Championship standings. Márquez reduced the gap to his compatriot to 18 points and can continue to dream of defending his title. Furthermore, with ten MotoGP victories at a single circuit, he equaled the record of legend Giacomo Agostini, who triumphed ten times in Imatra, Finland, during the 1960s and 1970s.
Dream weekend for the Spaniard
Márquez had already won the sprint on Saturday and started from pole position. In the main race, he left no doubt, dominating the action from the start with a lead of almost two seconds.Edit Profile
