Thanks to a dream start, the Spanish world championship leader extended his lead over second-placed Ducati colleague Francesco Bagnaia to 26 points on Saturday. Another Ducati rider, Franco Morbidelli, came third. Pedro Acosta took sixth place, just ahead of his KTM factory colleagues Brad Binder and Jack Miller. The main race will take place on Sunday (14.00 p.m.).
Martin, who started the short 13-lap race from fourth place on the grid, braked his way into the lead in the first corner. Martin defended this lead to take his fifth sprint victory of the current season. In qualifying, Bagnaia had secured pole position at the home race with a track record ahead of his two Italian compatriots Morbidelli and Marco Bezzecchi, all graduates of the Valentino Rossi Academy.
Pecco on pole
Hours earlier, qualifying took place in Misano, with reigning world champion Bagnaia coming out on top. The Ducati rider took pole position with a time of 1.30,304:14 minutes, also breaking the lap record on the historic race track. He will start from the front on Sunday at 1.30,645 p.m. Sprint winner Jorge Martin (4:1.30,589) had to settle for fourth place. Francesco Morbidelli (1.30,609:XNUMX) and Marco Bezzechhi (XNUMX:XNUMX) were both faster than the Spanish overall leader.Edit Profile
