Martin wins turbulent Indonesia GP

Martin is 21 points ahead of Bagnaia in the World Championship with five races to go. Acosta's fourth podium finish of the season was only confirmed more than an hour after the end of the race following an investigation into the tire pressure of his Tech3 KTM.

Acosta put in a strong race and was once again the only rider to break into the superior Ducati phalanx. "I knew the track suited me," explained the 20-year-old. "The KTM is good in these conditions when there is not so much grip. We are happy because we are getting closer and closer." The Spaniard shook his head at the tire pressure rule shortly after crossing the finish line and did not celebrate at the awards ceremony. In the end, however, he was able to keep his second place.

Bastianini, Bagnaia and Marquez with problems The race in the heat was turbulent from the start. Shortly after the start there was a crash in which KTM man Jack Miller was involved. Bagnaia had problems getting the tires on his factory Ducati up to temperature and slipped out of the top five for a while, but fought his way back to the front. "It was a very, very tough race. His team-mate Enea Bastianini took too many risks with seven laps to go and crashed. Marc Marquez also retired. The six-time world champion's Gresini Ducati caught fire after a cylinder defect. After 15 of the 20 races of the season, the World Championship now seems to be just a duel between Martin and Bagnaia, who won the sprint the day before and thus came close to the World Championship leader who crashed on his Pramac Ducati.

"This is not a normal victory," said Martin after he fought back in the main race. "After yesterday's crash and everything that has happened in the past few months, it is a relief." The 26-year-old title contender had not won nine Grand Prix in a row since May. Martin: "I think we are ready for the next (race)." That will take place next Sunday in Motegi in Japan.

Martin wins turbulent Indonesia GP

Jorge Martin extended his lead in the MotoGP World Championship on Sunday with his third win of the season. The Spaniard triumphed in the Indonesian Grand Prix in Mandalika, while KTM hopeful Pedro Acosta impressed by finishing second ahead of world champion Francesco Bagnaia.
