Slopestyle: Silvia Bertagna gets historic podium and Olympic ticket

Silvia Bertagna took advantage of the absence of numerous top athletes in the Swiss winter sports resort and already established herself at the top in the qualification. She confirmed her good performance with spectacular performances in the final and secured third place with 78,60 points. Only the German Lisa Zimmermann (91,20) and the British Katie Summerhaeys (80,00) were better than the Val Gardena woman.

Bertagna is completing her first World Cup season this year. She finished ninth and tenth in the stages at Copper Mountain and Breckenridge. The 27-year-old also secured the Italian championship title in Valmalenco last year.

Markus Eder also sets a highlight

Like Bertagna, Markus Eder from Luttach also achieved his best career result in Gstaad. He took eleventh place in the men's competition. Meanwhile, Ralph Welponer, Andreas Bacher and Lukas Schäfer failed to qualify.

The victory went to New Zealander Josiah Wells, who prevailed against Swede Jesper Tjader and Fabian Bösch from Switzerland.
