The ski calendar: Only one stop outside Europe

Those responsible for the FIS committee paid great attention to the separation of genders and the respective speed and technical competitions in order to best protect the health of the runners. Reducing costs for everyone involved was also an issue. The highlight of the season is the World Championships in Cortina d'Ampezzo from February 8th to 21st. Three common stations for women and men The opening event in Sölden (October 17-18) and the subsequent parallel races in Lech/Zürs (November 13-14) on consecutive days, as well as the finale in Lenzerheide (March 17-21), are the only joint events for women and men. The women's program includes 35 individual competitions in 18 locations, while the men compete in 39 races at 19 locations. The women's Olympic test event for Beijing 2022 in Yanqing (downhill, super-G) is the only event outside of Europe. For the men, only the classic races in Wengen (2 downhills, 1 slalom) and Kitzbühel (downhill, super-G, slalom), as well as the finals in Switzerland, featured competitions for both speed and technical specialists. Otherwise, there is a strict separation: For example, in Val d'Isere at the beginning of December, two giant slaloms will be held first, followed by the downhill and super-G the following weekend. For the women, the speed disciplines, as well as the giant slalom and slalom, will be separated throughout. Arrangements have been made in the event of travel restrictions. If at least seven of the top ten nations are permitted to travel to the respective host country by the provisional entry deadline five weeks before the competition, the race will be counted toward the World Cup. In special cases, the FIS Task Force will make a decision. This also applies to the other World Cup events, such as ski jumping, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and Nordic combined. 5 races in South Tyrol The ski entourage makes three stops in South Tyrol. As usual, the men will complete a Super-G (December 18th) and a downhill run (December 19th) in Val Gardena. A giant slalom (December 20th) and a slalom (December 21st) will be held in Alta Badia this year. A giant slalom (January 26th) at Kronplatz is on the program for the women.
