Track Cycling European Championships: South Tyrolean wins medal

South Tyrol's track cyclists made a strong showing at the European Championships in Konya, Turkey.

To kick things off, Matteo Bianchi from Leifers and Mattia Predomo from Branzoll, together with Stefano Minuta, secured the bronze medal in the team sprint. The trio from the Italian team set several national records within just a few hours.

Their qualifying time of 42,555 seconds already set a new Italian record. In the race for a place in the final, they improved this mark again to 42,318 seconds. In the bronze medal race against the Czech Republic, Bianchi and his teammates improved once more: final rider Predomo staged an impressive comeback, overtaking the Czech rider and securing the bronze medal with a time of 42,285 seconds.
