Three Italian championship titles for South Tyrol’s mountain bikers

There was even a South Tyrolean triple victory for the women. Eva Lechner won her 1th national title in 34.56:17 hours and beat Anna Oberparleiter and Judith Pollinger by a respectable margin. Oberparleiter was 8.22 minutes slower than the vice-European champion, while Pollinger lost almost 14 minutes to the 28-year-old from Eppan.

“You always have to win a state championship title first, even if you are the top favorite. I am very happy with my race. I really liked the route here in Nemi. There was a little bit of everything. I’m very happy,” said Eva Lechner at the finish.

There were no South Tyrolean medals in the men's elite class, but Johannes Schweiggl and Fabian Rabensteiner held the South Tyrolean flag high with fourth and fifth places respectively.

Strong South Tyrolean young talent

In the U23 age group, Gerhard Kerschbaumer won in 1:21.48 hours. In the end, the Verdinger was 1.03 minutes ahead of Nicholas Pettinà and 3.29 minutes ahead of Daniele Braidot. In this category, Beltain Schmidt, another South Tyrolean, ended up in the top ten. He finished eighth.

For women of the same age, the title also went to South Tyrol. Lisa Rabensteiner won in 1:27.51 hours ahead of Alessia Bulleri and Giulia Gaspardino.

There were also precious metals for the juniors. Michael Spögler from Sarner took third place among the young men, while Greta Weithaler took silver among the junior women.

Three Italian championship titles for South Tyrol’s mountain bikers

From a South Tyrolean perspective, the national title fights in Nemi in the province of Rome were very successful.
