Unsuccessful World Cup weekend for the mountain bikers

At the last Mountain Bike World Cup before the Olympic Games, successes for South Tyrol's cyclists were few and far between.

Greta Seiwald (Gsies) put in an impressive performance in Les Gets, France, but she missed out on a top placing in the cross-country race, finishing 22nd. The winner was Dutchman Puck Pieterse.

The Italians Martina Berta and Chiara Teocchi, who were preferred over Seiwald at the Olympics, finished in 11th and 25th place. In the men's competition, the South African Alan Hatherly celebrated, while the Azzurri Luca Braidot and Simone Avondetto narrowly missed the podium in 4th and 5th place.

In the women's downhill competition, Veronika Widmann (Tramin) had to throw in the towel in the semi-finals. However, she was happy for a teammate at the finish: Eleonora Farina from Pietramurata (Trentino) celebrated her first World Cup victory.
