Ferrand-Prevot celebrates – South Tyroleans lag behind

The mountain bike World Cup weekend is currently taking place in Val di Sole. Some athletes from South Tyrol are taking part

The South Tyrolean mountain bikers did not finish in the top places in the cross-country competition on Sunday. The best local athlete was Greta Seiwald, who finished 37th (+9.50 minutes), while Eva Lechner, who is competing in her last season on two wheels, finished 53rd (+11.22 minutes). The victory went to world champion Pauline Ferrand-Prevot (FRA), who also won in Nove Mesto. Second place went to Dutchwoman Puck Pieterse (+50 seconds), who won the short-track race in Trentino on Friday. Third place went to Candice Lill from South Africa (+1.13 minutes).

Another South Tyrolean, Jana Pallweber, was competing in the U23 women’s category. She finished in 68th place. Meanwhile, Veronika Widmann decided not to start in Val di Sole. The successful downhiller was in Leogang crashed during training a week ago and therefore decided not to take part in the race.
