South Tyrol's mountain bike future is in good hands

For the 16th time in a row, the Pichl/Gsies sports zone was the venue for the VSS state championship in the Dual, Easy Down and Cross Country categories. Despite the brilliant weather, there was no shortage of drivers or spectators in the Puster community. There were also some “guest drivers” from Trentino and Veneto, but they did not take part in the national championship.

4 young mountain bikers were the outstanding players and secured the national championship titles in their age category in all 3 competitions: In addition to Theresa Gasser (ASV St. Lorenzen) and Pablo Zanolini (ASC Kardaun), Marie Kirchler (ASV St. Lorenzen) and Anna Sinner (Sunshine Racers Nals). Anna Sinner can look back on a perfect season: the 17-year-old from Nals was able to be celebrated as the winner in all 12 races of the season. Sinner also contributed to the Sunshine Racers from Nals winning the club ranking with 865 points ahead of SSV Pichl/Gsies (516 points) and ASV St. Lorenzen (472 points).

The young South Tyrolean mountain bikers still have big plans: While stars like Eva Lechner and Gerhard Kerschbaumer were at the World Championships in Canada, more than 200 young bikers gathered in Pichl/Gsies for the VSS national championship last weekend.
