Val di Sole: Seiwald just outside the top 10

This weekend, the Mountain Bike World Cup races will take place in Val Sole. South Tyrol's best mountain biker Greta Seiwald once again confirmed her good form.

The World Cup weekend in Trentino opened with the short track races on Friday afternoon. The women's race was won by Puck Pieterse from the Netherlands, who crossed the finish line just under a second ahead of her competitor Pauline Ferrand Prevot from France. Third place went to Savilia Blunk from the USA (+5 seconds). The best Azzurra in the home race was Chiara Teocchi in eighth place (+14 seconds), while Greta Seiwald from South Tyrol achieved another solid result with 14th place (+18 seconds).

The men's short track race was decided in a final sprint between a group of four. Samuel Gaze from New Zealand was in the lead, beating the Frenchman Victor Koretzky and the Belgian Jens Schürmans by one second each to second and third place. Nino Schurter from Switzerland came away empty-handed. The best Azzurro was Daniele Braidot in 18th place (+19 seconds).
