Athletes from 22 nations competed on the 73-kilometer course, which featured 2.600 meters of elevation gain. No one completed the course as quickly as Jakob Dorigoni. The 28-year-old from Pfatten prevailed in the final sprint after more than three hours, beating Italian Stefano Goria. Goria's compatriot, Gioele De Cosmo, finished third, a considerable 1 minute and 10 seconds behind. Fabian Rabensteiner finished the race in fifth place.
It was the athlete from Villanders who launched the first attack. However, Dorigoni and Leonardo Paez quickly closed the gap. As the race progressed, a duo formed at the front, consisting of Dorigoni and Goria. The South Tyrolean showed great sportsmanship by helping his competitor remove a branch from his spokes. In the final sprint, he showed no mercy and secured his first World Cup victory of the season.

“It’s always beautiful on the island of Elba because the course is fun and technically demanding,” Dorigoni emphasized. “It was a race with a high pace right from the start. There were no breaks. This result confirms my form and gives me confidence for the rest of the season.”
Swiss woman wins in the women's competition
In the women's race, Swiss runner Anna Weinbeer took the victory ahead of Spain's Natalia Fischer and Lejla Gorycka (Poland). Sandra Mairhofer from Taisten finished seventh – 20 minutes behind the winner. Weinbeer had already won the first Marathon World Cup of 2026.Edit Profile
