Pogacar extended his lead at the Tour de France with a solo victory

Defending champion Tadej Pogacar also won the tenth stage of the Tour de France, taking another step towards his fifth overall victory.

The Slovenian world champion secured a solo stage win on French National Day after a 166,6-kilometer ride from Aurillac to Le Lioran, extending his overall lead to over three and a half minutes. Remco Evenepoel and Paul Seixas finished second and third, respectively, on the challenging stage.

On the stage with seven categorized climbs and around 3.800 meters of elevation gain in the Massif Central, Pogacar launched an explosive attack with about 15 kilometers to go. The defending champion built up a 32-second lead over Belgian double Olympic champion Evenepoel (Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe) and a 34-second advantage over French rising star Seixas.

In the overall standings, the Slovenian from UAE Team Emirates now leads by 3:36 minutes over Dane Jonas Vingegaard, who finished seventh today and lost 44 seconds. Evenepoel follows 4:06 minutes behind.

Pogacar's 24th stage win

For Pogacar, it was his third stage win at the 2026 Tour de France and the 24th of his career. This brings him close to fourth-placed Frenchman André Leducq (25) in the all-time list of stage wins. The most Tour de France stages are held by British former world champion Mark Cavendish (35).

On Wednesday, the sprinters can once again hope for a mass sprint finish. The 161,3-kilometer route from Vichy to Nevers is almost entirely flat. Only two category four climbs await the riders.
