Pogacar: “You risk your life every day”

For Tour de France champion Tadej Pogacar, the greatest dangers in his sport lie in daily training.

The greatest dangers in his sport lurk during daily training. "I often feel unsafe while cycling. In my opinion, it's not a particularly safe sport. I mean, just going out and training in traffic, where more and more people are getting nervous in cars, in traffic. You risk your life every day outdoors training," said the world champion before the start of the Tour de France on Saturday in Lille.

Nevertheless, special caution is required, especially in the hectic first week of racing. "You can lose the Tour there – without being bad. There are many tricky finals, few flat sprints, and a time trial. That's why it's important not to panic. You have to stay calm, focus, and above all: save energy for the third week," said the Slovenian.
