Shock during training: Cycling star hit by car

Four-time Vuelta winner Primoz Roglic experienced a scary moment in his preparation for the Spanish tour.

The Slovenian announced on Instagram on Friday that he had been hit by a car a few days earlier. A photo showed a large bruise on his thigh. Due to the injury, he unfortunately cannot participate in the Clasica San Sebastian and the Vuelta a Burgos, Roglic said.

The Vuelta, which begins on August 22nd, remains his goal. "Not the best scenario, but that's life. Now we're focusing on the Vuelta, working hard and hoping that everything turns out for the best," Roglic wrote.

Tour de France dominator Tadej Pogacar could confirm his potential participation in the three-week race in the coming days. The world champion is still missing the Vuelta a España from his impressive trophy collection; his compatriot Roglic won it in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2024.
