Tadej Pogacar: Simply unstoppable

Defending champion Tadej Pogacar won the tough Vosges stage at the Tour de France and consolidated his yellow jersey.

The Slovenian world champion won the 14th stage, a 155,3 kilometer ride from Mulhouse to Le Markstein, solo, with a lead of more than half a minute over his second-placed teammate Isaac del Toro from Mexico and the young French star Paul Seixas.

German hopeful Florian Lipowitz showed good form on the tough mountain stage with 3.800 meters of elevation gain and three category 1 climbs. The third-place finisher from last year finished seventh and improved his overall ranking to sixth.

In the overall standings, "Pogi" already leads by four and a half minutes over Dane Jonas Vingegaard. Belgian Remco Evenepoel is third (+5,04 minutes). Behind them, everything is tightly packed. The next climb awaits on Sunday when the Tour heads to the Plateau de Solaisan on stage 15. The final 11,3-kilometer ascent, with an average gradient of 9 percent, is particularly challenging.
