The 25-year-old Dutchman prevailed on the final, difficult Alpine section from Albertville to La Plagne, celebrating his second stage win of this year's Tour. Despite being pursued by overall leader Tadej Pogacar, Arensman held his own in the pouring rain and defended his narrow lead to the finish.
Pogacar, who finished third, once again demonstrated his dominance and left nothing to chance on his way to his fourth Tour de France victory. The Slovenian controlled the race in the decisive phase, along with his closest rival Jonas Vingegaard, who finished second. Two days before the finale in Paris, Pogacar comfortably leads the Dane by over four minutes.
Unusual situation
Before Friday's difficult Alpine stage, an unusual situation arose: Due to an outbreak of a contagious cattle disease, the organizers had to shorten the day's stage from Albertville to La Plagne and remove the climb to the Col des Saisies from the program. The sick cattle grazing in the area had to be culled.Edit Profile
