Vingegaard loses red, Turner sprints to victory

Two-time Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard has lost the red jersey for the first time at the 80th Vuelta a España.

Frenchman David Gaudu, who was behind him in the overall standings at the same time, managed to temporarily take the overalls from the Danish cycling star thanks to his better daytime placing on the fourth stage, which was flat towards the end. Both remained close together with the same time.

Ben Turner took the day's victory in the bunch sprint. The 26-year-old Briton won the race after crossing from Susa, Italy, to Voiron, France, ahead of Belgian sprint star Jasper Philipsen and his compatriot Edward Planckaert. Tuesday's race covered 206,7 kilometers and 2919 meters of elevation.

On Wednesday, there will be a team time trial covering a distance of approximately 24 kilometers. For the first time, they will be competing in Spain after the opening race in Italy. The three-week tour ends on September 14 in the capital, Madrid.
