Due to cattle disease: Important Tour stage is shortened

Due to an outbreak of a contagious cattle disease, the 19th stage of the Tour de France will be shortened on Friday. The difficult Alpine stage from Albertville to La Plagne will be only 95 kilometers long instead of the originally planned 129,9 kilometers.

The organizers of the Tour de France announced this late Thursday evening. This means that the climb will now be less than the original 4.550 meters.

The start is scheduled for 14.30:XNUMX p.m. in Albertville, one hour later than originally planned. The riders and teams must now adapt their tactics for the second spectacular climbing show in the Alps.

Sick cattle at the Col des Saisies

A herd of cattle located in the Col des Saisies area was affected by the disease. The animals had to be culled, the statement continued. Given the plight of the affected farmers and to ensure the smooth running of the race, it was decided, in consultation with the relevant authorities, to remove the climb to the Col des Saisies from the program.
