49 thoroughbreds on the last Sunday of spring

On the eleventh day of racing, six flat and steeplechase races with a total of 49 thoroughbreds from Italy, Poland, Switzerland and the Czech Republic are scheduled for Sunday in Merano.

Led by the Czechs Josef Bartos, Jan Kratochvil and Jan Faltejsek, the elite of Central European hurdle jockeys are at the start. The focus is on the hurdle race for the Tempo D'Or prize. Six horses are taking part in the hurdle race over a distance of 14.000 meters with prize money of 3.300 euros.


Raffaele Romano saddles three of the participants: Cirano, Superius and Step Loss. The best performer is Superius, who will race with Czech rider Lukas Matusky. Jan Faltejsek will climb into the saddle of Step Loss, who has not yet performed as well as hoped for for the Aichner racing stable.

The gelding The Grower (L.Neprasowa) will be racing for trainer Ilaria Saggiomo. Magic (R. Bens), who has not been convincing in Merano so far, will represent Jakob Kartus' Polish colours. Trainer Josef Vana sen. will bring Sic et Simpliciter to the start with Jan Kratochvil.

The breaks between the races are filled with live musical performances by the duo Daniela Bavetta & Lele Poletti. The racecourse restaurant is open from 12 noon. Children can go pony riding. For an additional charge on the ticket, a guided tour of the racecourse can be booked, which is offered at 13.30 p.m.

Race start is at 15.20pm
