Pitzianti unstoppable at the South Tyrol Grand Prix

The international show jumping tournament "Jumping in the Alps" in Wiesen concluded on Sunday in perfect weather and with 18 thrilling competitions. The up-and-coming Wipptal event offered a real treat with the Grand Prix of South Tyrol, which boasted a prize purse of 9000 euros. Christian Pitzianti, riding Nunora Z, lived up to his top favorite status and emerged victorious.

Pitzianti (Toscana Equitazione ASD) left nothing to chance on the final day of competition in Wiesen. The experienced rider from Tuscany secured victory on Nunora Z – and in a commanding manner. In the final round, horse and rider completed the course in 39,87 seconds – a time that the competition couldn't match, partly because the other participants made mistakes.

Only Filippo Gasca Queirazza (GQ Stable SSD A RL) remained faultless on Amir, but his time of 44,77 seconds was significantly slower. The pair were rewarded with second place. Riccardo Vittori (CI Vittori ASD) and Clash finished third (41,42-0/4). Pitzianti almost made it onto the podium twice, but with Hatila De La Riviere, he missed out on a podium finish by 0,19 seconds, falling short of Vittori. He finished fourth with this horse.

Andrei and his wife are facing off in the next generational duel.

The competition in the C135 category (1800 euros) was also of a high caliber, featuring a father-son duel for victory, just like on Saturday. And once again, it was the son who came out on top: Riccardo Andreis (SEC SSD ARL) won on Revolution EH in 59,05 seconds, while his father, Christian, narrowly missed out on victory on Denver Blue (61,88). Third place went to Rebecca Leitner (Reitclub Steinwandterhof), who made a strong statement for South Tyrol on Florida Z.

Leitner also took the victory in the C130 category (1200 euros). Riding Diva, she finished in 54,67 seconds, beating Riccardo Vittori on Xina (58,29) and Christian Pitzianti on M. Etrusco Dei Settemerli (60,06). Hannah Steckholzer (Equestrian Sunhome) narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth on Collina 23 (60,55). In the competition with 125 cm hurdles (800 euros), Aleandro Maestri (L'Eden SSD A RL) and Ibiza Oh. emerged victorious. The pair completed the course in 48,35 seconds. Ludovica Ternullo (OS Stable 1992) on Coriandolo Del Piopetto and Sofia Trombin (Città di Mantova ASD) on Ballerina De Carmille flanked Maestri at the awards ceremony. Here too, a rider from Equestrian Sunhome finished in fourth place, namely Anna Christina Gartner on Elliot Della Corte.

Organizers draw a positive conclusion

In the C120 category, Anna Lou Cagol (Bolzano EC) on Marie Jolie VD Withoeve celebrated the day's victory ahead of Vittoria Gallo (SEC SSD A RL) on Clariseo and her sister Francesca Gallo on Copernico. Sophia Bernardi (Panoramic Horse Resort ASD) finished in seventh place on Paganini Due Elle.

After ten days of competition, over 160 events, and a total of three tournaments, the organizing Wiesen Riding Club was pleased with the results. "Over the past week and a half, we've witnessed top-class equestrian sport. The level of competition was very high. We were especially delighted that so many people came to Wiesen to watch some of the events firsthand. Among them were visitors who had no prior connection to our sport. We would like to thank all the volunteers and our many sponsors. Only when everyone works together is it possible to create something as fantastic as Jumping in the Alps. See you next year when we host the third edition of our internationally renowned tournament," summarized tournament director Jakob Hochrainer.
