South Tyrol's young riders showcase their talent at the Wiesen riding club

The B3* category tournament, part of Jumping in the Alps, began on Tuesday. The focus here is on the performances of up-and-coming show jumpers, as the competition is part of the "progetto sport" initiative, promoted by the Italian federation to support young riders.

As in the previous week, around 300 riders – mainly from Italy, but also from the surrounding Alpine countries – competed in Wiesen on Tuesday as part of Jumping in the Alps. The professionals held their competitions in the evening this time, so the young riders were the focus of attention throughout the day.

In the Junior Level 2 show jumping competition with a height of 110 centimeters, two young South Tyrolean riders particularly distinguished themselves. Local favorite Anna Oberprantacher from the host riding club Wiesen took second place on Colido, two points behind winner Tommaso Iacobellis (L'Eden SSD A RL) on Nirvano R Z. Third place in this category went to Oberprantacher's teammate Leonie Gasteiger, riding Ginger 68. The duo repeated these placings in the subsequent Junior Level 3 show jumping competition with a height of 115 centimeters on their horses – here, Elena Patrese (Omega Equestrian ASD) from Veneto, riding Careful H, proved slightly stronger than the two local riders.

Exciting decisions regarding young talent

In the junior 105cm category, local rider Magdalena Strohmer (CE Merano ASD) emerged victorious on Imhotep D'Eglefin, as did Asja Bona in the 100cm class on Skippy (Bolzano EC). "It's wonderful to see the enthusiasm of the young riders. The competitions were very exciting, and some of the results were quite impressive. We're also very pleased with the turnout of spectators. We hope that many more people will visit us in the coming days, as admission is free," said the organizers from the Wiesen Riding Club.
