The two padel courts at Tennis Brixen Bressanone were the venue for South Tyrol's largest padel tournament on Saturday and Sunday. 50 teams of two from all over South Tyrol registered for the tournament in advance and showed off their skills in this new trend sport.
The teams were divided into two categories: "Beginner" and "Advanced" - women, men and mixed all played in the same category. In the preliminary rounds, which took place on Saturday, each game lasted 20 minutes. The group winners and runners-up qualified for the finals on Sunday, in which one set was played each. In the "Beginner" category, Manuel Trappolini and Bettina Paoli won against Thomas Laconi and Maria Sole Moggio.
In the “Advanced” category, the two Argentinians Augustin L'Aqua and Claos Herrero, who live in Val Gardena, took the win. They won the final against Simon Larcher and Simon Michaeler from Brixen.

Matteo Scaggiante and Gunnar Braito were awarded prizes for their imaginative tournament outfits, while Tom Oberegger took home the trophy for the strongest shot in the smash contest. "We are delighted that 100 participants from all over the country are coming to Brixen to test their padel skills, and it shows that padel motivates many young people to take up sport," says Tom Oberegger, organizer of the tournament.
