Alex Tabarelli remains South Tyrol's CONI President

Alex Tabarelli remains President of the South Tyrol Olympic Committee. The 66-year-old sports journalist from St. Pauls was confirmed in his position at the helm of the CONI.

The board will also include Elisabetta Ticcò, Richard Weißensteiner, and Walter Taranto as representatives of the professional sports associations; Gabriella Dalla Lana and Orlando Prini for the sports organizations; as well as athlete representative Stefano Podini and coach representative Roland Brenner. Twenty-six of the 26 professional sports associations were present at the election on Saturday in the hall of the "House of Sports" in Bolzano.

Tabarelli, who had already served as president of the South Tyrolean CONI for the past four years, was the sole candidate for the presidency and was confirmed in his position. "With the Winter Olympics next year, where Olympic medals will be awarded in South Tyrol for the first time, we are facing the most important event in South Tyrolean sports history. I am delighted to be able to continue working with my committee members for the next four years. We absolutely must build important structures in the cities of Bolzano and Merano during these years. In villages, we already have a world-class setup, with facilities that can compete internationally anywhere," said Tabarelli.

Richard Weißensteiner, Elisabetta Ticcò, Gabriella Dalla Lana, Orlando Prini, Stefano Podini, and Roland Brenner were confirmed as members of the board. New to the committee is the president of the swimming association, Walter Taranto, who replaces Bruno Cappello.
