Algunder's Alexander Lang can celebrate with GSP Vergiate

With Alexander Lang from Algund, who plays for record champion GSP Vergiate, as well as Dieter Kaufmann and Paul Schmid from MGC Terenten, three South Tyroleans participated in the individual competition, and MGC Terenten also participated with a men's and a women's team in the Italian Minigolf Championship on the concrete courses in Montegrotto Terme (Province of Padua).

Alexander Lang had particular reason to celebrate. The Algund native and his teammates brought the Italian men's championship title back to Vergiate after four years. The Lombardy club has won the Italian men's team title 18 times, most recently in 2021. After Vergiate, MGC Ligure has been crowned Italian men's champion four times.

Alexander Lang, who has been playing for the club from Lombardy for more than ten years, was also delighted. Lang finished eleventh in the men's singles. "Overall, it went really well. We clinched the men's team title in the final round."

Head to head race

It was a neck-and-neck race for the title right to the end between the defending champions Novi Ligure and us. Winning the title was the most important thing. In the individual competition, I could have achieved more if I hadn't made one or two mistakes. In the match play, I was eliminated in the second round against a teammate. I can be more than satisfied with my performance in Montegrotto,” said Alexander Lang.

Terenten competed with both a men's and a women's team. The men finished in sixth place. The women, Dagmar Hirschmann, Annelore Rier, Ornella Campora, and Marzia Brianza, even managed to secure third place and a bronze medal. In the men's individual competition, Dieter Kaufmann and Paul Schmid finished 21st and 27th respectively out of 43 participants.

Cristian Pinton (Cusano Milanino) won the men's title, while his clubmate Silvia Bandera took the women's title. Palo Porta (Novi Ligure) and Antonella Flamini (Aponense) secured the match play titles. Vergiate became the men's team champion, and Cusano Milanino the women's. The results are listed below:
