With two comfortable victories, the team of coach Florian Runer and Jörg Ramel took over the top spot in the standings – and have thus come a decisive step closer to the long-awaited championship title.
In their first match against Grieskirchen/Pötting, Bolzano presented a cohesive and compact team. After taking an early lead, they secured a clear 3-0 victory, leaving their opponents no chance.
The second match against hosts ASKÖ Seekirch followed a similar pattern: dominant from the start, Bozen impressed with excellent defense and consistent attacking play. In the end, they secured a comfortable victory, putting SSV Bozen at the top of the table. Level on points with the previous leader from Laa, Bozen boasts a superior set ratio.
Defender Maximilian Deutsch was pleased after the successful matchday: "Today we showed an excellent and thoroughly cohesive team performance. We started each game with great focus and were able to dictate the play at all times. Now it's time to recover, because we want to take full points in the next two games tomorrow and secure the championship title."
The situation before the decisive second matchday could hardly be better for SSV Bozen: If they manage a victory tomorrow without dropping a set, the team would be uncatchable by their pursuers – and would thus be crowned champions of the 2nd Bundesliga. This would qualify SSV Bozen for the promotion playoffs to the 1st Bundesliga and give them the chance for direct promotion to the highest Austrian league next season.
