The Foppa Taste Supporter Sailing Week is in the starting blocks

This time too, the organizer, the Yacht Club Salten with President Sigi Rungaldier at the helm, can come up with news. A new feature is the new main sponsor, namely the company Foppa based in Neumarkt. For 6 editions, the sailing regatta organized by the Yacht Club Salten was called Brennercom Sailing Week. Since this year and for the next 3 years, the Foppa company has been won as the main sponsor. For this reason, the sailing event will be called Foppa Taste Supporter Sailing Week (FSW) in the next few years. A total of 21 teams have registered this year.

“We support Sailing Week because sailing is a sustainable sport in which you have to have a keen sense of the environment in order to be successful,” say Alexandra and Peter Foppa when they were introduced as the new main sponsor: “Otherwise you are up against the wind and water has no chance. Sailing is also a social sport like few others that young and old can do together in a team. You need experience, but also athleticism and technical know-how to reach your goal together.”

Exciting mode The skippers have already prepared for exciting competitions. A skipper meeting recently took place at the ALGO in Lagundo in the Trattoria “Seppiolina”, where the 7th edition was presented to the 21 boat managers. As defending champions, Windsurfing Kaltern starts the 7th edition with skipper Stefan Sparer. Last year they replaced series winner (4 wins en suite) BMW Activa - Auto Ikaro with skipper Bernhard Mair.

The FSW 2023 will be contested in 2 classes: 7 teams will be competing in the Spi class with Bavaria Cruiser 41S boats. The 14 teams in the 2nd group will compete in the gennaker class with Bavaria Cruiser 46OD boats. An all-women team will also be competing in this class: the OBI Woman Sailing Team and skipper Deborah Sparber. The ascent and descent mode provides particular excitement. The last two teams in the Spi class have to be relegated to the Gennaker class. 8 races are planned this year, wind and weather permitting. The islands of Katina, Veli Iz and Zut were chosen as destinations for this 7th edition. The big closing ceremony with awards will take place on Thursday, May 11th in the departure port of Biograd. Things really get going on Saturday, May 6th with the registration of the teams on the jury boat. At 17.30 p.m. the first skipper briefing, which is mandatory for all skippers, takes place with chief referee Gert “Blondl” Schmidleitner. Sunday and Monday morning are planned for free training, although many teams arrive in Biograd days in advance to hold training sessions. The first regatta is scheduled for Monday afternoon.
