Change of leadership in the Sports Aid Directorate

The new year brings a change at the top of the South Tyrolean Sports Aid organization. After three years as director, Georg Gasser is taking on new professional challenges. Evi Hilpold is taking over.

New ideas and new approaches characterize the start of 2026 at the South Tyrolean Sports Aid Foundation. Georg Gasser, who led the organization with great dedication as director for three years, is stepping down. Evi Hilpold from Brixen will take over as director of the non-profit organization, supported by Alexia Demez as her deputy.

Both women are already well-known in the South Tyrolean sports world: Evi Hilpold brings many years of experience in the organization and communication of major sporting events, including the Ski World Cup organization in Val Gardena, Kitzbühel, and Cortina, as well as the Brixen Women's Run. Alexia Demez from Val Gardena, herself a former ski racer, has also been involved in organizing the Ski World Cup in Val Gardena for many years. Both specialize in marketing and communication.

Essential for South Tyrol's young athletes

“The South Tyrolean Sports Aid is an established and important association for South Tyrolean sport. Our mission is to support young athletes not only financially, but also with moral guidance. Through targeted measures, we aim to further strengthen the Sports Aid brand, expand existing initiatives, and develop new projects to create the best possible conditions for sporting careers together with clubs and associations,” explains Evi Hilpold.

President Giovanni Podini, on behalf of the entire board, thanked the outgoing director: “Georg Gasser led the South Tyrolean Sports Aid with great competence, dedication, and vision. We sincerely thank him for his valuable contribution and wish him all the best for his future career.”

Looking to the future, Podini is confident: “With Evi Hilpold and Alexia Demez, we are gaining a dedicated leadership duo who will bring fresh impetus and consistently develop the South Tyrolean Sports Aid organization. Together, we want to further strengthen support for our athletes and position the organization sustainably for the coming years.” The South Tyrolean Sports Aid organization is thus looking confidently to the future and continues to focus on continuity, innovation, and close cooperation for the benefit of South Tyrolean sports.
