Flood of medals for South Tyrolean minigolfers in Terenten

At the Italian Minigolf Championship, the South Tyroleans won five medals in the senior class and four medals in the elite class.

For the second time since 2017, the Eternit facility near the village center of Terento hosted the Italian Minigolf Championship on Saturday and Sunday, this time in the categories. 62 minigolfers, including 26 from South Tyrol, participated in the championships. 44 senior male and five senior female players competed, but no juniors.

For both men and women, this was the second Italian Minigolf Championship this season, as the Italian champions in the general class were crowned in Cavriglia (Tuscany) at the beginning of June. The titles were won by Paolo Porta (Novi Ligure) in the men's category and Anna Bandera (Cusano Milanino) in the women's category. The title fights for the men's seniors were fiercely contested. Seven rounds were required to determine the new Italian senior champion.

Two South Tyroleans also battled for medals until the very end. Dieter Kaufmann of MGC Terenten had the better finish, securing the bronze medal in the seventh and final round with a score of 159 strokes. He was only ahead of Maurizio Palmiro Zini (Cusano Milanino) with 157 strokes and Rudi Giroldini (Vergiate) with 158 strokes. Alexander Lang of Algund, who plays for GSP Vergiate, narrowly missed a medal, finishing fourth with a score of 160 strokes. However, he did win the medal in the senior team competition.

Lang won the gold medal with GSP Vergiate. Silver in the senior team competition went to AMV Algund/Raiffeisen. Two medals were also awarded to the senior women from South Tyrol. Sara De Nardi (MV Algund) took silver, and Elvira Schmid (Terenten) took bronze. In the elite class, Cristian Pinton (Cusano Milanino) won with the best tournament score of 152 strokes, ahead of Kurt Unterhauser (157) and Hannes Lang (165), both from SV Lana.

In the women's competition, Ramona Schmid of MGC Terenten achieved the second-best South Tyrolean tournament score of 158 strokes, only beating former world champion Anna Bandera (Cusano Milanino). SV Lana took second place in the elite team rankings. The scores are as follows:
