South Tyrolean roller derby team wins gold together with Vicenza

A major success for South Tyrolean roller derby: The Bolzano-based team Alp'n Rockets, together with The Anguanas from Vicenza, secured the gold medal at the Italian Roller Derby Championships. The two teams competed this season as a joint team under the name "The Alp'anass" and remained undefeated throughout the entire championship.

The decision was made last weekend at the fifth edition of "Brace for Impact" in Vicenza, one of Italy's largest roller derby tournaments. In the semifinals, the Bolzano-Vicenza fusion team prevailed against Api Spaccaossa from Rimini/Bologna. In the final, the team faced the She Wolves from Rome. After an intense and hard-fought match, The Alp'anass won 192 to 165, securing the Italian championship title.

For the South Tyrolean athletes, winning the title is an important milestone. After the Alp'n Rockets won the bronze medal last year, they have now, together with their partners from Vicenza, made the leap to the top of the national rankings.

With the championship title, South Tyrolean Roller Derby celebrates its greatest success to date at the Italian level and underlines the positive development of the sport in the region.
